This is the first year UWAC (University of Waikato Astronautics Club) will be competing in AURC, and the only team from the land of the long white cloud! We are from the little University of Waikato (Located in Hamilton, about 2 hours south of Auckland).
This year, our goal is getting our feet in the door, as this will be our first entry into any kind of university rocketry competition! That being said, we are coming into the competition with all gun’s blazing . We will be competing in the 10,000ft category with our entry, Takahē. This will include custom air brakes, and a 1U CubeSat payload with video recording capabilities, and a fully in house designed and built prototype flight computer. Along with this we will also be testing out new methods of rocket and payload construction.
Our team is super excited to travel over and compete with other like-minded teams for AURC. We don’t have any rocketry competitions here over the ditch, so this will be a unique opportunity for our team!
